College goal Sunday

October 09, 2017

College Goal Sunday LogoCollege Goal Sunday is a national volunteer-based organization dedicated to helping students and their families complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, or FAFSA. Each year, College Goal-Colorado serves more than a thousand people statewide, and in just a few hours’ time, students across the state are one step closer to college in the fall.

Colorado financial aid professionals volunteer their time to assist families with the FAFSA on the spot at more than 20 college campuses, offering free expert help with no strings attached!  Imagine coming to a college campus in your area, and leaving 45 minutes later with your financial aid application done!

In 2016, College Goal Colorado celebrated 10 years of helping Colorado families with FAFSA completion.

The Colorado Association of Financial Aid Advisors, or CAFAA, supports College Goal-Colorado by helping financial aid offices, admissions staff, and high school counselors spread the word about the event. If you’re a financial aid or higher-ed professional, please consider volunteering to help families at a site near you!

Info shared with students

September 08, 2017

Information posted to students google classroom accounts.

College Fairs

I am uploading information to the counselor calendar. (See the link). On it you will find off-campus opportunities that you may want to consider looking into.

There are all kinds of college fairs:

  • Colorado Council on High School/College relations has Day/Night fairs all over the state, I have posted the closest two.
  • There is a Christian College Fair in October at four different locations that you may want to consider.
  • There is also a Coast to Coast College Fair that is specific to some selective universities.
  • There is also the NACAC National College Fair, which I highly recommend.  I will be providing resources for students regarding attending a College Fair.
  • There is also info on an online College Fair, which I don't know much about but want to share.  See the Link.

There is a College Info 101 night sponsored by Hispanic Scholarship Fund.  See the flyer, it is also on the Calendar.

As always, I look forward to talking to students about their post-secondary plans.  I will continue to try and provide as much info and resources as I can.
