NOTICE: Our web-site www.kiowaschool.org. is being updated for the weekly bulletin, lunch menu, school calendar, teachers email and phone extensions, mileage reimbursement and much more. We will continue to send weekly bulletins to the Kiowa businesses which are delivered every week by our National Honor Society members. We will also have bulletins posted in all three schools and extra copies will be available for families to pick up if they do not have access to the internet at home.
Sports schedules are available from www.highschoolsports.net select Colorado, select Kiowa High School, pick sport. From there you can select MS/ HS schedules and information.
NOTICE: 2009-2010 Yearbooks are still available! The Yearbook Staff is selling the extra Yearbooks for $40.00 each. Please contact Pattie in the HS Office for your copy today – 1st come, 1st serve!
NOTICE: Want a great way to help your school and obtain a great deal for you! Kiowa School is selling Gold C books. They are $10 each and the school makes at 50% profit on each book. This fundraiser will go towards the new track fund. Packets should have gone home with your student this week. Extras will be available in each office. We have books from the Denver area and a limited number of Colorado Springs books. These books have great savings inside and are well worth the $10. SAFEWAY GIFT CARDS are available in the elementary and high school offices in denominations of $20 each. These gift cards are good for groceries, fuel, and prescriptions. Thanks for your support!
NOTICE: KPTCC – Welcome back to school. With a new year, comes a new concessions schedule. We are desperately in need of volunteers in the concession stand during volleyball and basketball season. Won’t you please consider signing up to volunteer? The funds we raise go towards Scholarships, Classroom supplies, equipment and fieldtrips, aid to the Athletic Department, aid to KHS Advanced Placement classes, Read Aloud, Memorials, Field Day, Christmas treats at the Winter Concert and the list goes on. Please stop by the concession stand window, check out the schedule and sign up to volunteer. Our first volleyball game is Thursday, September 9th. PLEASE COME OUT AND HELP! Our success depends on YOU. KPTCC meets the third Monday of the month in the HS cafeteria. Our next meeting is September 20th.
NOTICE: School Pictures will be taken on Thursday, September 9th on the stage in the MS Gym. They will start at 7:30 a.m. with walk-ins. The Yearbook Class will give teachers a schedule for the day. ALL students will be photographed for the yearbook and student ID cards. Picture packages will be ordered for those students returning order envelopes with payment. Photographs will be taken by Inter-State Studio, Inc. this year and we are very excited about the services they offer.
NOTICE: Kiowa Band Parents Association would like to welcome our new band director, Mr. Vruggink, to our school. The Band Parent’s will hold their first meeting on Thursday, Sept. 16th at 3:45 p.m. in the new Band/Choir Room in the HS Building. Election of Officers will be on the agenda. Mr. Vruggink has ideas for the program and we welcome any new ideas for the upcoming year. All Band Parents are invited to attend. Kim Jacobs, President of Kiowa Band Parents Assn.
NOTICE: Bus Return Times: When our students are traveling to other schools for games and competitions, the coach or sponsor will call the school for the after hours recording to leave the bus return time. Parents may call 303-621-2115, listen to voice message, and press 5 for bus return information. Hopefully, this will help parents to be at school before the bus returns so that their child will not have to wait for them to arrive. Thank you.
NOTICE: School Closure: There are times when it is necessary to close school or dismiss school early due to inclement weather or other emergencies. Area television and radio stations will be notified and the announcement will be made prior to closure/dismissal. The school will be described as “Elbert County School District C-2 at Kiowa OR Kiowa C-2”. Participating stations include: KOA Radio 850, Channel 9 KUSA-TV, Channel 7 KMGH-TV, Channel 4 KCNC-TV, Also announcements will be made on our school voice mail system by calling the school number, listen to voice message, and press 7 for school closure information.
NOTICE: ALIVE AT 25 defensive driving class will be held at Elizabeth High School on September 23rd from 4:30 to 9:00 p.m. This class is being offered at NO cost ($34 value) to the first 25 Elbert County students who sign up a www.aliveat25.us under the HIGH SCHOOL location tab and put “parents required” as the reason. This does meet requirements to obtain driving permit at 15 ½ years old. This class is being offered by Elbert County Health and Environment through a grant from CDOT. Please note that if you are taking Alive at 25 as a “court ordered” class, you must pay the required fee – this class is paid for voluntary students only. NOTICE: Kiowa Youth Athletics Peewee Football:
KYA Peewee Football will hold their 5th Annual Spaghetti Dinner on Thursday, Sept. 2nd at 6:30 p.m. in the HS Cafeteria. All peewee football players and their families are invited to attend.
We have a lot of used football equipment and clothing. If you need something please call Terry Howard at 303-646-9004.
